On 31 March 2017 UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office, Center “Cooperation for Sustainable Development” (Almaty, Kazakhstan) and Central Asian Regional Water Network [email protected], in cooperation with the American University of Central Asia, organized a launch event of the United Nations World Water Development Report 2017 “Wastewater: The Untapped Resource” in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The event was attended by 32 representatives of all interested parties, including governmental
and international organizations, educational and research institutions, as well as NGOs and independent experts.
During the event the main conclusions and recommendations of the UN World Water Development Report 2017 “Wastewater: The Untapped Resource” were presented
to the participants. In addition, the following issues were discussed:
Human health and sanitation aspects in the Kyrgyz Republic;
Wastewater treatment and management in the Kyrgyz Republic;
Analysis of the situation in the field of return water management in Kyrgyzstan;
Formation, treatment and eligibility criteria of treated wastewater for irrigation purposes.
The results of the event were summarized during an interactive discussion.
