Nehru Science Centre (NCSM) Mumbai organised two days event on World Water Day with Rotary District 3141. ON 21st March we organised a drawing contest for students during 11am to 1 pm. 112 students from 10 schools participated and showed their creativity on theme Nature for Water. On 22nd a seminar was held at Nehru Science Centre on the theme. World Water Day: Nature for Water; Confluence of Ideas and Experiences. Experts from Mumbai municipality and Maharashtra state government shared the govt plans and action on providing safe drinking water to its people and the challenges face by them in implementing the plans effectively. The main reason is depleting water tale and climate change an pollution. Director Nehru Science Centre shared views on water for life and role of science centres in creating awareness on water and sensitizing people especially students and young budding people about use and conservation of water. Role of climate change on water tables, cycle and aquifers were also discussed in the seminar attended by about 200 people. In the last session, various rotary clubs in Mumbai showcased their social work in providing potable water to rural populace, making their life easier under jal Rakshak programme under Rotary District 3141 banner. The best 3 projects were awarded by the District governor Nominee. The programme was a grand success. On the occasion two water coolers were also inaugurated. These will provided safe drinking water to the esteemed visitors of Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai.
