World Water Day is an international day observed by the United Nations to raise awareness around global water issues . It has been celebrated around the world every year for 25 years following the United Nations General Assembly’s designation of 22 March as ‘World Water Day’ in 1993 and the global campaign is coordinated by UN-Water.
In this session, participants are invited to come celebrate this day together with the lead agencies for the 2018 World Water Day (CBD, UN Environment and UNESCO, UN-Water, the Government of Brazil and the World Water Council. Participants will get a chance to learn more about the 2018 theme – Nature for Water -, discover the winner of the prestigious Stockholm Water Prize, find out more information about the 2018 World Water Development Report on Nature-based Solutions for Water, learn how they can get engaged/involved, and connect with other celebrations around the world.
